Vision and Mission

Vision

The Calgary Ethiopian Community Association envisions the presence of a vibrant and active Ethiopian Community in the City of Calgary and its surroundings. Some of its visions include the following:

  • Observe that the community is visible, productive and supportive of the missions and visions of the City of Calgary.
  • Watch that members are actively involved in the economic activities and development programs of the city.
  • Witness that community members lead better lives with mutual respects.
  • Celebrate that the youth and children born from Ethiopians living in Calgary be educated, responsible, law-abiding and respectable members of the city.

Mission

  • Facilitate the integration and resettlement of refugees and newcomers of Ethiopian origin into the Canadian society living in the City of Calgary and Surrounding areas
  • Aims to contribute to the social, cultural and civic life of the Calgary City
  • Assist Ethiopians in preserving, sharing and transferring their tradition and cultural heritage to the people of Calgary
  • Encourage the Ethiopian youth and children to be part of the community and the general public by providing language classes, arts and other educational programs.
  • Act as a liaison between members and government and private organizations.
  • Extending advocacy services which focus on critical needs in our community, particularly in education, job training and healthcare services. This will be achieved by establishing close partnership with government agencies and other private organizations
